.congrats.SCHS.drama.
Saturday I made a stop by the top of the hill to see SCHS’ drama team compete at WKU. They did great – and looked fabulous…errr…rough, and I learned that drama is one the hardest, worst lit events to photograph. Ugh.
Anywho, in the words of my sister they won:
1st Place runner up at the Kentucky Theater Associations High School Festival and Megan Hawley, Kelsey Witham, Amanda Wicker, Sara Lauer, Kellie Grigsby, Haley Shepherd, Devon Stivers, Tara Scholl, Greylyn Burk, Marz Holtzworth, Britt Mahan, Farren Holland, Maria Horn and Katie Johnson were all named to the All State Cast. We beat our all time rivals Dunbar High School.
In the abbreviated words of Cyndi Powell-Skellie (their drama teacher): We were first runner up!! Awesome group of kids! So much talent with so little time! My dream came true!! Such a great year!!
The whole gang, real quick, out front.

Getting ready.

Kelsie Witham – Lizzie Loo alum…woot, woot!

More alum…headshots this time.

Praying before.

My sister, Sara.

Again…Sara.

Best shot I got all performance…it was tough – that’s for sure.

More Loo alum…Senior Representative Chelsea Sutton.

Congrats guys!

A little belated – but since today is the observed day, you’ve still got time to thank a vet. I’ve thanked mine – have you?
My photo story assignment this week is veteran and thanks to a friend I was connected to SFC Daniel Cromer. I LOVE that he is not the stereotypical vet…he’s married, has 3 kiddos, teaches at Western and will be off to Iraq again, soon. I have learned tons about the Army and armed forces in general – it’s like a whole other world :-) Enjoy!

.merchant.family.
4 girls = hours of entertainment. We started at the Merchant’s home and moved to Gallerein’s Farm. Love these!

My FAVE!

UPDATE!! Shelby County beat Scott County 60-56! Congrats! See you this week!!

I’ve got to run to a shoot, but here is one of my favorites. Check back later tonight for the full posting.

.kelsie.smithson.
Finally…I feel like I’m getting caught up. Only one more session and I can move onto orders (WOW on the Holiday Ordering – I had no idea!), custom prints and weddings. Yesss!
For now, here is the super-smiley Kelsie Smithson. We began our session at Bowman Field where we made friends with a gas pumper man who took us out onto the field and into a hanger. We also shot at Cherokee Park – but I absolutely LOVE the uniqueness to her images. No one else I have photographed got such a great place.
Kelsie – I hope it was worth the wait. :-)
LOVE THIS!

Probably my FAVE!

Random news of the day:
What’s coming up next? Some farmer, finally, the Merchant Family and perhaps some more wedding. I will also report on the Shelby County game ASAP. This week I am shooting a veteran. Well, photographing him anyway. He’s currently teaching ROTC at WKU, but will be deployed (I think I’ve got the lingo right) to Iraq for the second time, anytime soon. Get excited, and enjoy your weekend! I will!

For the past few weeks I have been shooting a story on Shelby County Football Coach, George Cottrell. I have had the best time! I’m not a big sports shooter – but the relationships and excitement present in this team make it worth my while and then some.
This Friday the rockets face Scott County once again in their first round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, I can’t be around to cheer them on and document their win (:-)), so I wanted to give them my best wishes in the most extensive blog post ever.
I hope that if you haven’t made plans this Friday (or if you have, change them) you would hop in your car and take a trip to Georgetown, Ky. to support our Shelby County Rocket Football. It has been my pleasure to document their journey thus far, and I am sure that if you take the time to make the drive you will enjoy yourself. This years coaches have gathered a group of young men who are genuinely excited about football – and their joy makes for great imagery. Good luck boys – I know I’ll see you next week in round two! Thanks for letting me share in your opportunities!
A bit of Coach Cottrell to begin.

Watching his son, Quinten, play in the Freshman game, with son Jaron at his side.

I know this isn’t football, but I love the look on his wife’s face as George leads the choir (he’s amazing BTW) Sunday morning. It is so telling to his character and their relationship.

Pre-game meal.

A little practice with Coach Dallas.

An oldie, but goodie.

This is pretty much the case always – George cracks a joke, makes the serious face and everyone else laughs.

Rocket pride, is county wide!

He’s not this scary :-)

I wish you all lots of these moments this Friday!

George and his son.

Again at the Oldham game.

Ewwweeee…Scott County.

Coach Shipley and I made a deal that I could have more access if I wouldn’t take photos of him. Glad this was from before the deal.

Hope to see lots of this on Friday.

And none of this.

The fabulous Alice Creque from Max Performance.

I’m sure the stands will be packed like this.

Ooooooohhhhh, Jerry.

This moment brought to you by Sports Legends.

A little left over from homecoming.

LOVE this light!

I hope you all remember this speech from after the last Scott County game.

Think about this face, who got to be the happy one when it was time to shake hands…I trust that Shelby County will make him cry this week. ;-)

I’ll be praying for you! Good luck…and someone call me, so I know how it all turned out. Most important, have fun and be safe!

.sarah.domhoff.
About half way into our shoot Sarah’s mom informed me that she loved the smiley look much more than serious. I have to say that she looks gorgeous in both, but I love the genuine giggles she provided. Enjoy!
Love these Lizzie Loo colors!

See what I’m talking about? Giggles!!!

Hope your week started out right! Mine started with a test…when we showed up, she sent us home with a take-home. I love Mondays!
.george.and.lizzie.
A couple weeks ago I photographed the most blue-eyed kiddos, and the best part was, the little lady in these shots is often called Lizzie Loo by her mom. The Fahey family was family #3 in my photography journey a couple years back – and I was super excited when Jennie contacted me to photograph the kids again – however this time there was a new member. Meet Lizzie and George. They were very good for their session at Locust Grove.

By the way – George and Lizzie’s father trains horses with my dad – small world :-)
Wow these are absolutely stunning, wonderful job!
