Archive for January, 2008
.28.in.2008.update.
You may remember my post of 28 things to do in 2008, here. I wanted to give a little update on my progress.
1. I’m halfway to having all of the prints hung and the place looking like me. I even found some old cameras to have around. You’ll have to come visit soon :-)
10. I’m almost done with my business book for January, Selling the Invisible, by Harry Beckwith. I have already started my February book, You, Inc., also by Mr. Beckwith. I LOVE them so far!
12. I cooked some fabulous Sesame Chicken with broccoli for my friends, so we’ll see if I can keep it up for a month.
18. I’m looking to add a new camera this week. We’ll see :-)
19. Abby and I have plans for cake decorating this summer at Conway’s in Middletown. You should tag along – some of our friends are going to do it, too.
20. I’m doing really well at the fast food quest. My boyfriend eats more Taco Bell and junky food than you can imagine, but all I’ve had is an apple turnover at Arby’s today – that doesn’t count…right?
22. Still looking for ideas on celebrating my 21st birthday. We’ve got until August 6th to make a plan. I’m all about some input!!
27. I made new headers for the blog!! I always feel so odd sharing my life with you all, but no one ever gets to see me, so now my face is plastered at the top. Should I make more to rotate, or add in some with images of you all? Ohhh the quandary.
28. I think Bob and I are planning on attending the Grand Ole Opry for Valentine’s – we’re waiting on the attendee listing to get good.
AND since no one likes a post without a photo, here is another image from our trip to Belize. I’m half-way done with my editing. I’ll do Day 6 images tomorrow….so hopefully sometime soon- hahaha. School is already crazy with all sorts of fabulous homework. I hope you heard that sarcasm. Have a good one :-)

Also, many of you have asked about photo classes in the area. Kristen clued me in to a class at UofL. For $120 bucks you’ll probably take something away. I’ve been asked a lot about doing a little photo class or get together. What would meet your needs best? Email me your ideas to: elizabeth@lizzieloo.com

The last wedding idea post I did was such a hit – I’m going to do a mini-post again for all you fanatic planners out there :-)
First you MUST SEE the Real Simple Weddings book. It’s a crazy wealth of knowledge for those of you newly engaged ladies who are just getting started on your planning. It covers etiquette, expectations, asking the hard questions, what to do and when to do it – pretty much it is the most amazing thing ever…well, maybe not ever. PLUS – it is “sponsored” by my MOST FAVORITE Crate & Barrel. Check it out!
Next, a super-sweet proposal idea! I found this bowl on Etsy and think it is amazing!!
These pin cushions are ADORABLE and would make the cutest little pillows for your ring-bearer. If you’re a seamstress check out the Summer 2007 issue of Quilts and More for all of the details. Until then, check out the author’s blog. Thanks for the image Ms. Heather Bailey.
Adriana, of InvitaPaperStudio on Etsy churns out some stellar save-the-dates and creative, custom invites. She’s even working up some goods for Lizzie Loo! Be sure to check her out for all of your paper needs – she’s just plain amazing.
Save-the-dates – for those ‘tying the knot :-)’

Wedding Invites
That’s all folks, the idea well has run dry for today. See ya soon.
And…do you like the new headers? I feel like you never see me until we meet – I’m just a blabbing name without a face.
.cindy.&.tim.
Well, folks, I’m afraid I have fallen off of the blogging bandwagon – but will begin working hard for a recovery. Posting a couple images from Tim & Cindy’s wedding in December. A sweet, little intimate ceremony in their home was perfect for the two.

Cindy’s oldest Daughter, Carissa (and one of my closest friends) said a few words and a prayer for the new union.

Carissa with her sister.

Love this shot of Cindy heading downstairs.

Check back tomorrow for some wedding-planning help. It’s exciting! And yes, I’m back at school :-)

.kathlyn.&.chad.tied.the.knot.
Held at Evangel World Prayer Center, Kathlyn & Chad’s occasion was purely theirs, from her childhood pastor officiating to her grandmother’s ring tacked in her dress. Even the crowd of family and friends that hung around to meet and greet until the end were demonstrative of the couple’s relationship.
They met via Match.com early last year, and quickly fell in love. When I met Kathlyn in the fall, they had planned to have a wedding a bit later this year, but couldn’t stand to wait much longer. Though she felt the pains of planning such a huge occasion in such a short amount of time, her joy-filled day proved to be as classy as she described at our first meeting.
The winter ceremony was missing only a snowy day. Completed with live trees wrapped in lights and rich, champagne satin bridesmaid dresses, the ceremony was very personal and started with a friends’ reading as Kathy stood in the aisle, aside her father.
The note was written to her by a dear friend, just a short time before she met Chad and was filled with encouragement; a promise that God would reveal her husband to her in his time and that, until then, she should grow herself in the Lord. The reading was a touching beginning to their ceremony.
The ladies carried candles, the groom left his jacket unbuttoned in his classic, relaxed manner as the couple vowed to join their love of Christ, musical interests and commitment to family together.
Though Kathy stressed much about her big day, I found it to be classy, yet casually “them.” Congrats on your wedding – I was fortunate to be invited and hope your vacation is spectacular! Enjoy!

The flower ladies…they were killer…funniest kids EVER.

Chad with his mother.

Kathlyn’s Matron of Honor reading a devotional before the ceremony.

There weren’t any dry eyes. :-)

Chad played a mean piano, to fill the pre-ceremony downtime.

The light was fabulous.

How gorgeous, right?

I’m a big fan of the couple’s reception slide show – theirs included a video where they told how they met. LOVED IT!

.lunch.with.kristen.
Friday I had the chance to grab some lunch with the super-referrer and comment contest winner, Kristen. A few months ago I had a contest for blog-readers to be the one to place the 100th comment. The winner would receive an iTunes card in exchange for their good luck and continual commenting – when Kristen won she chose to do lunch over the iTunes option.
A bit more about her. For a while now, this CPA has been frequenting the blog, referring her friends and attending weddings that I was hired to photograph. We tracked a chain of referrals, and 4 weddings have come to fruit from one of her referrals – WOWO – and most exciting for Lizzie Loo!
As we dined we chatted about Kristen and Bryan(the hubbie)’s soon-to-be adoption. They are in line for both an international and domestic adoption – so channel your good-luck vibes their way! We talked about camera options – as Kristen is looking to upgrade to a nice SLR to document their journey, as well as participating in general life chat. Thanks so much, Kristen, for choosing lunch over the iTunes – hope I helped in your pursuit for more photos!! Thanks for helping out in my pursuit to a super-fabulous client base!! Here is a photo of us after lunch (this is with my little point-and-shoot, so no photo critiquing, haha).

In conjunction with Kristen’s upcoming adoption and the number of families I have photographed recently, most who have adopted, I wanted to share a link with you all. A while ago I met Sarah Havard, a children’s photographer in Lexington. She has started an adoption card store – as she wasn’t happy with the options the card market was providing. Her small endeavor is just beginning – but may be a perfect match for you! You can read more here.
See you tomorrow with LOTS of wedding!
And you really should comment.

Just one little image to share from a gorgeous occasion last night. I am off to have some scrapbooking fun today, and will be back to blogging 100% tomorrow. Happy Sunday!

.site’s.down.
Oooooook, I’ve contacted all the nerds involved and they’re checking it out. Hopefully it will be back together soon. :-( For now, read the blog over and over again..
.my.two.cents.for.you.wedding.planners.
This week and last I have had floods of newly engaged couples inquiring about photography, so you know there is tons of planning going on all over the nation. Hundreds of brides-to-be searching frantically, while at work, (are you reading this from your desk?) for ideas to incorporate into their occasion. And I know from meeting with you all, you want to see photos of other’s occasions, most often not to check out my mad skill set, but to see what they did, who they used and how they got it done. :-)
Well, lucky for you, I have a running list of my favorite blogs and photo loaded sites and am here to share them with you!!
First off: Wed Fog: http://www.wedding-photographers-directory.com/ It is a bit different from the other sites I will mention, as it a site that helps to educate brides about wedding photography. While it has all sorts of fabulous Q&A’s it also has a huge bank of photographs, organized and categorized.

2. The Bride’s Cafe: http://thebridescafe.typepad.com I LOVE how this site is sooo photo driven. They profile many stellar weddings through use of their wedding images – so this place is packed with neat ideas, little tidbits of advice AND it is updated all the time!
Love these invitations from the site – I’m a sucker for letterpress and graphics.

Some lovely, red bouquets. I LOVE these – and am putting them up for my fabulous assistant from this summer – Sarah is getting married January 2nd and last I heard had settled on dark reds to compliment her Christmas/Winter driven occasion. I think I like the bottom best.

I also ADORE these shoes. I want my own pair :-)

3. A $10,000 Wedding : http://tenthousandonly.blogspot.com/
So no matter what your budget will be, everyone can take ideas from this girl. No, she’s not engaged, but does seem to have a BF – she just plans and plans and plans, because she loves it…and all on a budget. I also LOVE her philosophy on photography: spend more of your budget here than anywhere else, because pictures are all that will be left when it’s all said and done. Not quite as photo driven, but has stellar advice – and she has a funny little personality.
I LOVE me some mason jars- yesssss.

From a wedding I traveled to Alabama for this fall – LOVE IT!! I’m such a little farm girl – you’ll definitely see these when I tie the knot! Each jar hung from a pretty stake, about knee/waist level, was tied with a ribbon and held a votive inside. They lined they aisle and were PERFECT!

Remember, it was under a HUGE tree.

4. Wedding Bee: http://www.weddingbee.com/
This site is a little less home-grown and more commercial than the others, but I love it just the same for its wealth of honesty, ideas and unique contributers.
5. Black*Eiffel: weddding: http://blackeiffel.blogspot.com
So this site shares sooo many neat finds – not always about weddings – but great gifts, favor ideas – all sorts.
I’ve always LOVED these toppers by Ann Wood. They’re adorable AND handmade. They were featured here recently.

Other Faves (In no particular order):
6. Glamour this!: http://glamourthis.wordpress.com/
8. Junebug Weddings: http://junebugweddings.com/blogs/what_junebug_loves/
9. The Bride’s Guide:…: http://blogs1.marthastewart.com/weddings/ I’m a sucker for all things Martha!
10. The Preppy Wedding: http://thepreppywedding.blogspot.com/
11. Classic Bride: http://classicbride.blogspot.com/
12. Earth Friendly Weddings: http://earthfriendlywedding.blogspot.com/
That’s all for today, folks. I hope this helps ya out! Now get back to working, brides-to-be. Happy Wednesday!
.it’s.coming…and.it’s.a.long.one.
I’m still working through the image of our trip to Belize – but I love this image of my littlest sister, Abby.

Ditto to Allie!
