At the end of October (yep…and you’re just seeing them – ahhhh), Justin and Mikiba Morehead came up from their Texas home to shoot some images on the farm.

It was my first trash-the-dress and we didn’t really get too trashed. We crawled around in the hay loft, Justin and Mikiba jumped into the straw, leaned on the silo and wandered in the fields. The dress wasn’t anywhere nearly as dirty as we had expected it to be – nothing a dry cleaning couldn’t tackle. It was super-fun to get some images of the married couple, as we didn’t have time for an engagement session pre-wedding.

I love the serene quality of the first image. Enjoy!

I’m up for more trashing! Just shoot me an email! Maybe we’ll get some snow :-)

I’ve been doing a little work to the website, so be on the watch for more new photos and information to appear.

Brides who have gotten engaged over the Holiday season, be sure to check in for package pricing right on the site and loads of new wedding images.

Yesss! Finally working on some of my 28 on 2008!

Apparently, I was the last to find this gem of a website (so my friends tell me), and wanted to make sure you didn’t miss out. Here is the verbiage from their about page:

“Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade.

Our mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers.
Our vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice:

Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade.”

For a long time my family has been frequenting craft shows, driving like maniacs each summer to Ann Arbor, Michigan to shop a giant crafts show. It takes us at least two days to get through it all. I’m sure you can imagine how gleeful I was to discover this site. Mom and I have tested it – purchasing some goods for Christmas gifts, and it is a super-stellar system. All of our goods came super-fast and were exactly what they appeared to be.

My challenge to you: shop around and support buying homemade…and if you make things of any sort, start a store, so others can shop your skills. A seller’s account is free, if costs 20 cents to post each item; you set the prices and shipping terms. Once it sells they get 3.5% of the sale and you ship it.

Here are my favorite shops…I hope that you find something you love and I hope you are enlightened by my find.

Art Shows, not craft shows

This morning as I left the house to take my sister to school, I looked out in the field and saw some gorgeous light!

_dsc6369.jpg

I ran into the house, grabbed my camera and snapped this one. As I was driving through town, headed for the tanning bed, I decided to ditch my plans and make a beeline for the field. It was worth it. I hope you enjoy these images from my backyard. They’ve always been my favorite part of living here.

They’re all so nosey – always wanting to know what I am carrying in my pockets, clicking with my finger and how many scarves they can pull off with their teeth.

These last few are for my photo class. I’ve always had quite an infatuation with animal noses…but the truth is I like eyeballs just as much and I find fur equally fascinating. How cool is it that they can stand in these freezing temperatures in the ice and the snow and be just fine..no coat or scarf?

dsc_6552.jpg

My all time favorite. It’s soo odd, I think I will print it and hang it.

My plan is to continue shooting all month until I have a nice group of images to put somewhere in my parent’s home. Stay tuned.

And…sad to say, I already broke my 365 days of blogging, so today starts over at #1 again.

You have a very unique perspective on equine photography… :) I love the horse you can see through the other horses legs… nice work… and your whiskers in the sunlight was quite creative too. Very nice!!!

So much exciting in the works for Lizzie Loo! With the addition of an office this year, we are upgrading the senior photography workflow. For both the simple and the sweet sessions, image viewing and ordering will be done in the office, while the shot offers a quick option for getting the job done.

1. After your session, you will schedule an hour appointment to come out and take it all in with my assistance. No more looking through the images, not really knowing what to do with them, or where to hang them.

2. A few days before your appointment, a sideshow will be made available online. You can share it with friends and family and take it all in before coming in. Take this time to familiarize yourself with the images and get your wish list together.

3. Come to your appointment prepared to view albums, large prints and wall collections. Finally an opportunity to touch and feel the products we offer! Yeaaa! We will, together, set you up with gorgeous images to meet your needs with offerings of signature albums, gorgeous gallery wraps, metallic mounted prints, groupings of framed prints…I could go on and on.

4. 2-3 weeks after your appointment your prints and goodies are all ready to pick-up or ship out.

Many seniors this year found the task of ordering to be a bit daunting and I totally agree. Now that Lizzie Loo has grown into some space to show off our offerings, I am excited to make more contact with my clients, and help you get what you need and want…lots of gorgeous photos presented in a super-stylish way!

Without further ado, here are the three session offerings for the year. I’m upping the quality and the contact with my super-fun clients, so print pricing has changed as of the first of the year, as well as session payment and booking procedures.

To book your session, give us a call, check out the calendar or shoot over an email. Once we agree on a date, we will hold it for four days. You will receive your portrait agreement and mail in your session fee within this time. Sorry, but we can’t hold sessions for longer than four days without a paid session fee. Next, we’ll chat about your wardrobe and the perfect locations for your personality and lifestyle via the telephone. At your session, you will bring your deposit towards your first order and we will shoot, shoot, shoot until each image looks extraordinary and your time is up. Your deposit will serve as a print credit, and is redeemable when you order. Deposits vary from session to session, as do session fees. Check it out, and if you have ANY questions feel free to email or call!

The appointment book is open and ready for seniors of ‘08 and ‘09. I can’t wait to meet you!

.happy.new.year.

Posted on January 1st, 2008 by Elizabeth. Filed in Blog reader participation, Personal

Inspired by Jessica Claire’s list of 101 things to do in the next 1001 days, I’ve created my own list of 28 things to do in 2008. Some are silly, most for myself and lots for the business. Perhaps I will inspire you to help me with #24, and you will share a few of your goals and/or resolution. Happy New Year and come back for tomorrow…I’m taking a stab at #11.

1. finish the office in our home, hanging all of the prints and making it cozy
2. sleep less…there is so much more to do than catch more shut-eye than I really need
3. grow flowers again this summer
4. make weekends my time….except for weddings
5. order stickers for Lizzie Loo…something I’ve wanted to do for a while, it transfers from one to-do list to the next
6. file all paperwork as it comes in, no more stacking it because school is too crazy
7. overhaul the website, and update the images after each shoot
8. take a road trip..just because…with the girls, with Bob, by myself..whatever
9. stay in the Wigwam Hotel in Cave City
10. read 12 books for my business…all in december or one per month; just read ‘em
11. blog everyday for a year, or for a month straight
12. cook dinner once a week for other people, for a month
13. have lunch with someone business related that I don’t know once a month
14. write more notes: birthdays, thank you’s, thinking of you, etc…and mail them on time
15. visit the super-long yardsale that runs throught the South
16. visit a new state and Cousin Julie in Columbus
17. mentor a younger, girl photographer…or lots of mom photographers
18. add a new camera to the artillary, preferable the D3, but a D300 will work
19. make cake decorating class with sister, Abby…and pursue being the most versitile wedding photographer…”Hello, I’m Elizabeth. I can not only make you look great, but I can help you select the perfect wedding ring, the best photographer and construct your cake. In my younger days, I could even design your invitiations.”
20. no more fast food: Panera, Starkbucks and Chic-fil-a are ok, but McDonalds, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Rally’s etc. are not
21. photograph a wedding with someone whom I REALLY admire; preferable someone whose blog I subscribe to…(bobbiandmike.com, melaniemauer.com, jessicarstrickland.com, the list goes on and on)
22. celebrate my 21st with class…I’m not really sure what that entails, but I’m open to suggestions
23. send more time with my clients, getting to know them and forming relationships, and much less being a service they just use
24. get my readers to comment more, doesn’t matter how I get it done
25. actually complete the books for book club (yes, I’m reeealll nerdy!)
26. attend a wedding as a guest
27. make new headers for the blog
28. Bob takes me to the Grand Ole Opry

What’s on your list?
