Blessing Whirlwind I Kentucky Photographer Lizzie Loo
Just one more day of being out of the office for me! So much is going on here – new site designs, loads of blog content, Lexington sunrises, gown shopping with my besties, adorable kiddos, tons of wedding bookings (yay! and congrats! to all my new friends), ponies, puppies and passion.
Even my list of goals for 2010….and they’re checking themselves off like wildfire! So much is going on in my mind, my world has been turned upside down and I can’t wait to share it all with you! For now some winter wonderland images! Enjoy!

She enjoys the snow so much more than I could ever show.

So do these sweet horses.

And, well….I’m a sucker for snow! My sweet friend, Emily shot this in the almost-dark!

Happy Friday!

The Frazees : Louisville, KY Family Photographer
Dr. Tyler and his wife, Cheryl brought along their sweet little Madelyn to Locust Grove for some family time. I enjoyed very much running with Madelyn, playing red-light-green-light and dancing in between. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed being there. Tyler is one of our veterinarians – and growing up in that busy racehorse industry I appreciate a great deal the time he takes out for his girls when he can and the way he loves them. I hope you see that here. Enjoy!

Sunday Afternoon: Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse Farm
Many of you know that I was quite lucky to be raised in the thoroughbred racehorse industry. The thing I miss most about my move to the big city ( :-) ) is the lack of horses out my kitchen window. Don’t forget the store has prints and greeting cards for sale with lots of sweet equine imagery. Enjoy these!

Early Morning
Just a couple images I grabbed last week before I headed out for the morning’s sessions. They make me quite grateful for my farm life.

Oliva’s in Town
A dear friend always gets on me for forgetting to photograph my own life, so I’ve been trying to remember. And not just with my mind. And I’ve been doing pretty well.
My cousin Olivia has been in town for a few days and last night I took her riding on Cecil. This was one of my favorites – enjoy!

Horses Work For Kentucky
Though I am not shy about sharing my opinion in person, I try to leave this blog as impartial as I can – most of the time. This issue is one that is so, very important to my family and won’t be getting the same, unbiased treatment. If you live in Kentucky you are surely affected by the horse racing industry, and I am sure you’ve heard it’s having a tough time. For the past couple weeks I have begun work on a project about how the racing industry affects everyone. I am looking for stories of small farms having a tough time making ends meet, of families who are moving to other states where gambling helps fuel the racing industry, for little groceries going out of business because their neighboring farms are, too. For all of you that fear the fall of the industry and how it will change our great commonwealth.
Though the slots bill has been stopped for a bit, I feel that it is important for me to document the struggles our neighbors and dear friends are facing. All this in hopes that putting a face on the industry’s fall will help to communicate to those on the other side of the issue just how important our horses are.
If you know of families, people, farms who are being affected by our state’s failing industry, I would love to meet them. Love to document them and tell their stories. Quiet for now, but I’m sure you will hear more about this from me. I was raised on a horse, fed by the efforts of many of them and my college scholarship came directly from horses racing and earning money. My business depends on friends and family; a whole community dependent on horses.
I hope that my love affair with horses will be able to last a long time. That I will be able to take my children and grandchildren riding at great barns where they will meet great people, as I have. That you and yours will continue to thrive because of the horse.
I hope that you will view these images from a rally last week and think about how your life and business would be different if the horse industry in Kentucky didn’t exist. Feel free to post comments about the changes. The conversation must continue.

Little horsey friends
Hope life is well where you are. Wanted to share some of my favorite images from my trip home last weekend. It was so fun to be home, I got to ride (and I realized how out of riding shape my body is…bummer) and meet a lot of the new Lauer racing foals. I really love the first image because it is such a stretch for me. So out of focus, but really all about me trying to not be quite so perfectionist.
Wanted to also send your attention to the gallery of art prints that will be increasing and available soon for purchase as wall prints, wall canvases and greeting cards. For those of you who have been with me a long time, think of it as a MAJOR update on the Lizzie Loo greeting cards that started it all. Enjoy!

Also a brief update on the comments for cans. We start the commenting counter over again today. Took a couple bags of canned goods to a lady here in town as well as apple juice and pull-ups; things she had requested for her family to have. So get to commenting, because for every comment made here, I will donate a canned good to someone or some organization in need.
