Kentucky Wedding Photographer I Loo Loves
Anyone who knows me can say, with a whole heart, that ‘fave’ is one of my favorite words. Everything I like becomes ‘my fave’. I get super irritated when my iPhone insists on turning ‘fave’ into Dave, gave or face. Fave is clearly a word…
And in this boring season of cold, ugly weather, I feel it is important to entertain (or bore) you with my fave’s from time to time. There is so much goodness out there, and in this sweet little town that deserves to be talked about, so today, Loo Loves are born. I will post from time-to-time, my latest addictions, or things I think you should know about.
Tomorrow night I will be photographing an event at Claudia Sanders Dinner House called Tres Chic Shelbyville. The evening will be filled with music by Shelbyville’s New Breed, wine and bourbon tasting, a silent action, door prizes and a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased here and are $75/single person or $100/couple.
The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 toward a private room in the NICU at Kosair Hospital in honor of Shelby County. What a wonderful plan – I hope to see you there for an evening of fun – cocktail attire and dancing sounds like a good thing to me!! There’s even a $300 Lizzie Loo gift certificate up for grabs!
Next up is Kelly Moore’s new bag. It is definitely on my list of wants for 2010! It is meant to be a camera bag, but could function as so much Moore : diaper bag, laptop case, purse. This thing is super spacious and practical. I LOVE camera bags that are not only functional, but also adorable! Check it out!
Last, but not least, is one event that you will be hearing much about! 105 days until Shelby County’s Relay for Life event and Lizzie Loo has formed a team! My parents joined our county in fundraising efforts for many years and have passed the honor along to me! We would love to have any of our clients – past or future – join us in fundraising + walking to find a cure. More on this later, but for now, I am looking for folks who have faced or are facing cancer – I would love to do a portrait series to accompany our fundraising efforts. Computer Down I Louisville Wedding Photographer
Sad to report, but last night the harddrive on our main computer quit living. The computer is at the Apple Hospital, but there won’t be any updates or progress on the blog or work until it gets out. Say a little prayer?
Blessing Whirlwind I Kentucky Photographer Lizzie Loo
Just one more day of being out of the office for me! So much is going on here – new site designs, loads of blog content, Lexington sunrises, gown shopping with my besties, adorable kiddos, tons of wedding bookings (yay! and congrats! to all my new friends), ponies, puppies and passion.
Even my list of goals for 2010….and they’re checking themselves off like wildfire! So much is going on in my mind, my world has been turned upside down and I can’t wait to share it all with you! For now some winter wonderland images! Enjoy!

She enjoys the snow so much more than I could ever show.

So do these sweet horses.

And, well….I’m a sucker for snow! My sweet friend, Emily shot this in the almost-dark!

Happy Friday!
kind words are such a blessing to the needful, if one but knew the pleasure that they bring {John McLeod}
Leila and a little PB : Shelby County Backpack Program Feeds our Kids

GUESS WHAT???? Kroger has peanut butter on sale – 10 for $10 – making them just $1 a piece. Soooo when you’re shopping for your bread and eggs to save you during the snow storm, you should pick up some peanut butters!
Shelby County Public Schools sends home food to the neediest children in our community through the backpack food program to keep them fed while they’re away from school. As I have worked on many of my documentary projects, I got to see how important this opportunity is to the survival of kids in our own town. The program runs off of donations from our community, both food and monetary. Peanut butter is a staple for longer breaks and snowy times. Kids can eat for days on a jar :)
Feel free to drop your PB by the store and I will take care of it. You can even drop it by the Shelbyville branch of Republic Bank and at the School District’s Central Office on Main Street.
Together, lets stock up their pantry!
Megan + Jason I Louisville, Kentucky Engagement Portraits
Joy. Peace. I know it’s the holiday season and these words come along quite often, but I really can’t stop thinking them in my head when I remember spending my morning with Megan and Jason. We ended up traveling to Frankfort in pursuit of snow for making their engagement photographs. And when I look at these images, it’s like every other expression either screams joy or peace at me.
I enjoy so throughly getting to spend an hour or two with my couples to-be-wed, because it allows us to all grow comfortable with one another. And I love being able to earn their trust and understand their love so on their big day I am most ready to tell their story.
Thanks Megan and Jason for being so sweet, flexible and snow-chasing. I love the images we made together and cannot even wait to see the wedding you’re dreaming together. I love so much the childlike love you share, but the grown-up peace is even more precious. Enjoy!

LOVE Megan’s expression in the second image.

Joy and peace – right?

Just a reminder that I am out of the office and on an adventure until Tuesday, January 5th! I will answer my tele and see your emails, but will be unable to respond! Happy New Year and much love…..and be reading the blog while I’m gone :)

And just 2 reminders to share:

Thanks so much and enjoy your chilly Friday!
Kristen : Louisville, Kentucky Senior Photographer
Though it was rainy out for a bit of her session and cloudy for all of it, Kristen still rocked it out (it must be our sharing a birthday…we channeled the same happy when cloudy waves). I am super envious of her long lashes and blue eyes. And I loved having the weather as a little challenge. We found all sorts of way to be under cover, while being pretty. Thanks for inviting me to share in this part of your life! You look quite amazing, if I do say so myself. Enjoy!

Sunday Afternoon: Kentucky Thoroughbred Horse Farm
Many of you know that I was quite lucky to be raised in the thoroughbred racehorse industry. The thing I miss most about my move to the big city ( :-) ) is the lack of horses out my kitchen window. Don’t forget the store has prints and greeting cards for sale with lots of sweet equine imagery. Enjoy these!

6th Street Live : Shelbyville, Ky.
There’s a wee party going on outside – you should stop by and check it out. A few local bands and perhaps one or more from Berea are performing on 6th Street. The coffee shop is open late and there is lots of fun happening. Stop by and say hello, I’m sure they would enjoy the support!

And my sweet neighbor, Cassie, took me up above Shelbyville for a bit. And let me tell you – heights aren’t my thing, but I was glad I braved it!

Lizzie Loo Photography : Open House, Shelbyville, Ky.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make the open house a success. I really enjoyed meeting many of my neighbors, catching up with old friends and seeing past clients all grown up :-) Thanks to my parents who made it all possible – from the amazing cookies my mother and sisters slaved over to the white pumpkins my dad picked up for my papa to carve.
Everything was perfect…so perfect that we forgot to take some pictures until the end…oops and boo to that. These images were taken by Jake Stevens unless otherwise noted.

So it was a little chilly, but the heaters helped heat it all up as did Lewis Mathis‘ singing. Thanks Lewis! (And NO, I didn’t wear those ugly shoes to the party…)

Sister Abby and I warming up.

Abby took this image – I’m sure you figured that out, since Jake’s in it. Thanks to my WKU friends for making the hike up to attend. It was great to have your love and support there!

And baby Lauer with one of my good friends, Bekah – she drove all the way from St. Louis. Gotta love that!

And thanks, thanks, thanks for these sweet notes that have been hitting my inbox lately. Way to make a girl feel loved :-)
I just wanted to let you know that I think you are a phenomenal artist. I, while no good at taking pictures, love it, and I love looking at pictures others take. I especially love candid photographs – of anyone, anywhere. It takes a special, talented person to be able to draw out the emotions in these pictures, and you are the best I’ve seen. (Granted, my opinion probably doesn’t stand for much.) I just thought you should know. And, if I ever need a photographer (hopefully I will one day), you’ll be my first stop.
Congrats on your studio and your successes.
{Abby}
I love that backpack donation idea- you truly care for the the neighbors in Shelbyville. Thank you for inviting us to your grand opening, it was a lot of fun meeting “neighbors” in our town’s business area. i hope it will generate a lot of clients for your studio. Your dog is soo sweet, too ! Hope you are well and you’re enjoying this cool fall weather. You rock, Elizabeth
{Renee}
