Anyone who knows me can say, with a whole heart, that ‘fave’ is one of my favorite words. Everything I like becomes ‘my fave’. I get super irritated when my iPhone insists on turning ‘fave’ into Dave, gave or face. Fave is clearly a word…

And in this boring season of cold, ugly weather, I feel it is important to entertain (or bore) you with my fave’s from time to time. There is so much goodness out there, and in this sweet little town that deserves to be talked about, so today, Loo Loves are born. I will post from time-to-time, my latest addictions, or things I think you should know about.

Tomorrow night I will be photographing an event at Claudia Sanders Dinner House called Tres Chic Shelbyville. The evening will be filled with music by Shelbyville’s New Breed, wine and bourbon tasting, a silent action, door prizes and a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased here and are $75/single person or $100/couple.

The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 toward a private room in the NICU at Kosair Hospital in honor of Shelby County. What a wonderful plan – I hope to see you there for an evening of fun – cocktail attire and dancing sounds like a good thing to me!! There’s even a $300 Lizzie Loo gift certificate up for grabs!

Next up is Kelly Moore’s new bag. It is definitely on my list of wants for 2010! It is meant to be a camera bag, but could function as so much Moore : diaper bag, laptop case, purse. This thing is super spacious and practical. I LOVE camera bags that are not only functional, but also adorable! Check it out!

<img src="/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/bloglove32.jpeg" alt="bloglove32.jpeg”/>

Last, but not least, is one event that you will be hearing much about! 105 days until Shelby County’s Relay for Life event and Lizzie Loo has formed a team! My parents joined our county in fundraising efforts for many years and have passed the honor along to me! We would love to have any of our clients – past or future – join us in fundraising + walking to find a cure. More on this later, but for now, I am looking for folks who have faced or are facing cancer – I would love to do a portrait series to accompany our fundraising efforts. If you are interested shoot an email to celebrate {at} lizzie loo {dot} com

Well, it’s about time I made a full blog post about our amazing family vacation to Pasadena, California for the Rose Bowl. We had an amazing time and were all pleased we got yet another full, five-member, family vacation in. As we all get older and go through college, it’s tough to make it all coordinate. But we had a blast!

Here is a picture Sara made of me drinking some coffee on Balboa Island – it’s now a new header for the blog :)

We got to go watch as some of the Rose Bowl floats were prepared – AMAZING – they were going through flats of these roses like crazy.

Here were some filler flowers ready to be inserted and the tubs of Elmer’s glue + seeds that covered the floats.

This display was from the FFA’s float – everything was covered in seeds and grains, so they had this board to explain.

<img src="/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Louisville-Kentucky-p

Her eyes are closed, and mine might just be, too - but I like it just the same. Meet my youngest sister, Abby.

Meet my father, Mike, and middle sister, Sara. We made the trip to cheer on Ohio State, my father’s alma mater.

On Rose Bowl eve – also known as New Years Eve we visited Santa Monica’s pier for the Buckeye rally. All those red shirts are getting pumped for the game.

My pretty momma :)

Dad…walking.

My parents at the end of Route 66.

This sticker made me consider being a wildlife photographer…..I hope you’re laughing right now :)

Sister Sara doing what she does best!

OK. I admit it. I’ve developed a bird obsession. Tis true..

Not the yummiest cupcake image – by the light of our hotel lamp…but these Sprinkles cupcakes were AMAZING!! Seriously, the line is never too long, they may just change your life.

Rodeo Drive Gucci family portrait.

In classic Lauer form, we visited the racetrack. Here is the paddock at Santa Anita.

Silliest night of my life – we had a nice, family dinner at a chinese restaurant. One of the waiters was extraordinary at balloon hats..dogs…horses…bicycles…balloon anything. He made me a bicycle with a basket on the front. I put my balloon Leila inside and drove it around while wearing my balloon hat. Best New Years Eve ever – my sisters were mortified. Hah.

This was after our Buckeye win – look at Sara’s Go Bucks! pin glowing in the sunshine!

This is totally my sisters – to a T – telling one another how it is. Love them.

GUESS WHAT???? Kroger has peanut butter on sale – 10 for $10 – making them just $1 a piece. Soooo when you’re shopping for your bread and eggs to save you during the snow storm, you should pick up some peanut butters!

Shelby County Public Schools sends home food to the neediest children in our community through the backpack food program to keep them fed while they’re away from school. As I have worked on many of my documentary projects, I got to see how important this opportunity is to the survival of kids in our own town. The program runs off of donations from our community, both food and monetary. Peanut butter is a staple for longer breaks and snowy times. Kids can eat for days on a jar :)

Feel free to drop your PB by the store and I will take care of it. You can even drop it by the Shelbyville branch of Republic Bank and at the School District’s Central Office on Main Street.

Together, lets stock up their pantry!

And we’re going to cheers on these fellahs at the top of our lungs. Go Buckeyes!!! Look for me – I’ll be in a black Ohio State tee with tattoos on my cheeks, Ohio State bobby pins in my hair and Brutus earrings in my ears! :) You don’t really have to look, but you should stand on your recliner and cheer like crazy!

On my way to spend Thanksgiving with Jake and some friends last week, I drove along in my car singing and giggling to Leila, my always/all-the-time Westie-dog co-pilot. I had just wrapped a great session that reminded me yet again why I love my job. After that I met a dear friend for some Bob Evans and bonding. Halfway through our meal I ran outside to deliver prints to a client just in time for Thanksgiving sharing – who I knew would rave about her images and feel a bit sweeter about her beauty, because I felt that sweetness, even though they weren’t of me. I just loved those pictures.

I chose an old playlist that I always go to when I need to visit my happy place. And there I was, rolling down I-65 with my windows down and my puppy girl at my side. Happy and content. Optimistic and excited. My to-do list started to reel in my head, but this time it didn’t bother me. Because I was on my way to Thanksgiving land…where no one can touch me or take my turkey away.

I thought about the list and about this journal/blog. What to write for Thanksgiving?!? A list of thankfulness, a picture of my pup, of my new store – a rehash of all my sweet clients. Nothing was clear. Even Thanksgiving morning my mind was spinning as I read friends’ inspired posts so full of thankfulness and sincerity. I didn’t have that inspiration, I did have that thankfulness and sincerity. But it didn’t feel right…all my ideas didn’t feel just right. So I sat on it, and thought about it this weekend; on my drive home, while Christmas tree shopping with the family, while cleaning my car today…and until now, it never hit me. Until I was sitting here listening to a podcast of the post while I edit.

I’m thankful for those who have written on my heart. For those that wrote me an encouraging note that I reread (and believe me, if you ever wrote me a note, I’ve reread it 100x+), for those who have trusted me with the first day of their new lives. For those little Bears in Bowling Green who taught me so many life lessons and helped to uncover my giving insides. For my parents who loaned me money to buy my first real camera, and didn’t wince when I told them the price tag. For my friends who are sure to write and chat, especially when their own lives have taken them to South Korea. For my little girls in Bowling Green that were my babyGirl project – that educated me on the benefits of a backpack program and lit a fire in my heart to make sure I helped feed that in my own town. For Ms. McKinley who reminds me each time I need it, that this storefront, this little dream realized is my God place. For a heartfelt note that hangs on my refrigerator reminding me where my true beauty lies. For wonderful blessings, for great clients who have become my friends. For you and your stories, your adoption portfolios you email featuring my images. For family who grew my heart, giving and open to seeing these opportunities. For all of these writings and moldings. Thank you.

Please, remember the power you have to write on someone else’s heart. Incredible.

Since all posts become dull without pictures, I am quite thankful for my sweet girl who deals with this bow on her neck. And for the patience that keeps me from locking her up each time she unwraps those Christmas presents. :) And for you all who read my ramblings. Happy Thanksgiving!!

The thing I miss most about my move to the big city ( :-) ) is the lack of horses out my kitchen window. Don’t forget the store has prints and greeting cards for sale with lots of sweet equine imagery. Enjoy these!
